Abstract Ha Sŏng-nan, born in 1967 in Seoul, studied creative writing at Seoul Institute of the Arts. She debuted in 1996 with the short story “Grass,” and has since published several short story collections, including Rubin’s Cup, The Woman Next Door, Bluebeard’s First Wife, Wafers and A Taste of Summer, and full-length novels such as The Joy of Eating, Sapporo Inn, The Hero of My Movie and A. She has won prestigious awards such as the Dong-in Literary Award, the Hankook Ilbo Literary Award, and the Yisu Literary Award.
